Charity Cycle ride – 300 miles in the wind and rain through Kent to Paris in aid of SCOPE

The challenges of riding over three hundred miles on a bicycle are enough to put most people off, even in the name of a good cause, add in terrible weather from start to finish, and the majority of us would be running for the hills!

However, a thirty-strong team of Solicitors and colleagues from Sharratts who are celebrating twenty years in business, plus ‘friends’, left their offices in Brasted early on Thursday 26th September and peddled their way to Paris. Apart from the inclement weather, they also had to deal with many kilometres of gradients, very long days and aching limbs.

Two Directors from local construction and development company Chartway Group, Stuart Mitchell and Tim McLoughlin, together with Keith Lamb, MD of CCE, Chartway’s civil engineering arm, were part of the successful team raising £7,215 as part of the overall total of over £37,500 raised by the whole Sharratts to Paris team in aid of SCOPE.

“The ride was both exhilarating and physically demanding, but knowing that we were doing it for such a brilliant charity spurred us all on’. Said Stuart Mitchell, Group Director of Chartway Group.”
