Chartway Group – COVID-19 operational update

CHARTWAY GROUP – COVID-19 OPERATIONAL UPDATE

Following the Prime Minister’s announcement yesterday evening that the United Kingdom has entered a further full lockdown, we would like to update you on our business activities.

CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES

The latest guidance provided by Central Government has confirmed that the housing industry should continue to operate. As such, our construction sites will remain operational, with our teams and sub-contractors working throughout this period.

Although our construction sites remain open, we have ensured that our working practices have been updated in accordance with the latest Construction Leadership Council and Central Government Guidance.

Some of the measures taken have included implementing an enhanced onsite cleaning regime and improved social distancing measures.

Further to the above, we can advise that we have also been in discussion with our supply chain partners to ensure that our updated procedures are mirrored in the work that they complete for the Group.  We are closely monitoring the impact on our supply chain partners and will continue to keep you posted on any risks and mitigation measures that may be put in place.

HEALTH & SAFETY & SOCIAL DISTANCING

The wellbeing and safety of our team and stakeholders remain the utmost priority to Chartway Group. As such, we will continue to monitor and adapt over the coming days, weeks and months.

We can confirm that we have two qualified Health & Safety Managers working full time to implement any necessary changes to accommodate our new working methods.

REVISED WORKING PRACTICES

Chartway Group continues to monitor and review the guidance provided by Central Government and the Construction Leadership Council.  We are regularly assessing the risks associated with Covid-19 and endeavour to maintain the social distancing guidelines.

We remain to keep our team members and stakeholders fully informed on the latest guidance and rules, following engagement with the necessary governing bodies and constant review.

This procedure and working practices have been based on the CLC guidance document, which we have adapted for the purpose of our construction works.

VISITORS TO SITES

In order to reduce the number of visitors to our sites, we are introducing a staggered schedule in all areas of operation.  This will allow us to minimise any contact between parties on site. This measure applies to arriving and leaving the site and changing rooms and essential breaks.

Non-essential visitors will not be permitted to enter the site without prior consent. We will be operating a scheduled appointment protocol for essential visitors (client representatives, clients, building control etc.).

It is our intention to continue to utilise video conferencing facilities to ensure the safety of our stakeholders, and face-to-face meetings should only include “absolutely essential” participants, who should remain two metres apart at all times.

SALES AREAS, OFFICES AND VIEW HOMES

Chartway Group remains open for business and have been and will continue to engage with our valued customers by telephone or digital contact.

Our dedicated team of sales advisors are managing appointments and virtual tours, which can be accessed via our website

CUSTOMER CARE

Chartway Group continues to perform urgent and critical customer care tasks and is looking to increase the number of these that we can complete under current restrictions, particularly focusing on emergency and outdoor items.

This will always be subject to the ability to carry out the work safely and our customers being happy that the arrangements are right for them.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT & PRODUCTIVITY

Following the announcement yesterday evening of a further full lockdown, we are assessing the impact (if any) on our Supply Chain.  At this stage, it is difficult to determine the impact that this recent decision will have on productivity, however having been through the previous lockdown, we can confirm that we have all necessary measures in place to manage construction activities in accordance with the government guidance.  We will, of course, continue to update you on any impact should it arise.

Chartway Group has purchased a stake in Swale Building Supplies, which will aid in the securing of building materials for our construction sites.
