Social Values

We are one of Kent’s most successful construction companies, and we are aware that our work has a big impact on the environment in which we work and the communities we work with.

Not only are we committed to delivering quality at every step and supporting our people at the heart of everything we do, but we are also committed to the communities we work in and to building a positive legacy in all areas.

“We are passionate about supporting local charities and people in our communities. It gives us all a sense of pride."

Ian Savage CEO, Chartway Group

A first of its kind in Maidstone, the parade takes the form of a public art installation during the summer of 2021, with ‘Elmer the Patchwork Elephant’ as the central character. Working closely with local community groups, schools and businesses, we are encouraging them to sponsor and deliver their own creative version of Elmer, ready to take pride of place in an art trail planned across the borough.

Working closely with the hospice, creative event producers Wild in Art and independent children’s book publishers Andersons our target is to decorate the town with 40 beautifully designed Elmer’s.

As the installation comes to a close an online auction will take place for businesses, residents, schools and communities to bid for their own or other artworks, with the aim of raising significant funds for the hospice.

Chartway Group also hopes to raise a minimum of £8,500 for the Air Ambulance Trust, which will enable it to undertake three potentially lifesaving missions, responding to patients who have suffered trauma or serious medical emergencies. Through our private residential brand Westerhill Homes, we are donating £100 to the Air Ambulance for every house completion.

These charities, along with the Maidstone Day Care Centre for the Homeless, who we donate weekly food parcels to and raise regular funds through staff initiatives for, were selected after staff were asked to put forward good causes close to their heart. As well as next years Elmer’s Big Heart of Kent Parade, Chartway Group supported the Heart of Kent Hospice, during which time the company donated nearly £52,000 which went towards the sponsorship of a patient minibus and wellbeing programme as well as supplying labour and materials to revamp the Magnolia Place Garden.
