Andrew Shankster is Managing Director of Chartway Construction and Westerhill Homes and has almost 30 years’ experience in housing development. He started in the industry as a trainee surveyor, moving into management at Prowting Homes and then at David Wilson Homes where he was commercial director in the South Midlands.
He moved upward through management before becoming commercial director and then regional operations director for Bovis Homes, South East. In 2013, He moved to Persimmon Homes, South East before becoming managing director later that year. He joined Chartway Group in 2015, adding his considerable development experience to the operation as it seeks to capitalise on its growth and success.
Tim joined Chartway in the spring of 2012 as Group Projects Director. He is responsible for all client liaison on our new build construction projects as well as taking a key role in business development working with housing associations and local authority clients.
Tim has over 17 years’ experience in the housing and construction sectors, with a track record of success in delivering high quality new-build residential and commercial projects.
He also has experience working in affordable homes, having worked at a senior level for Hyde Group Ltd. There, he was responsible for the strategic management and delivery of affordable homes and private sale for Hyde Group’s eastern region.
Nick started his career as a Bricklayer in 1989 and spent almost ten years gainng experience in various construction disciplines before taking up a number of construction management roles, primarily for PLC businesses such as :
Wilson Connelly, Laing Homes, Berkeley Homes and Bellway Homes, plus a six year stint with Rydon Construction as a main contractor working in the Public sector
His work ethic is to achieve the very best in delivering quality construction, resulting in six NHBC Pride in the Job awards, and various company accolades for delivering excellence.
Julian has over 14 years’ planning experience in both local government and leading national planning consultancy, Barton Willmore, prior to joining Chartway Group in 2019. As a Chartered Town Planner, He started his planning career at a junior level at Kent County Council, before progressing to Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council where he became responsible for leading an area-based team of Development Management Planners, and on to his role at Barton Willmore where he was responsible for advising a range of house-building and landowner clients on immediate and strategic planning applications and opportunities.
Julian is responsible for leading the planning function across the Chartway Group portfolio, including the Company’s immediate and strategic pipeline of housing sites under its Westerhill Homes brand and through strategic joint ventures. His role is integral to the Company’s early-stage acquisition and delivery of sites, from advising on early stage planning strategies, negotiation and obtaining all necessary planning consents and throughout the construction process working alongside technical and construction colleagues to ensure timely delivery of sites.
Tom has over 15 years’ management experience working with top tier PLC housebuilders. His management career began with Bovis Homes, before he progressed to lead Customer Service departments at both Persimmon and Linden Homes.
As Quality Assurance & Customer Services Director for Chartway, Tom is responsible for auditing and driving the quality of Chartway’s ongoing construction projects and ensuring that the business provides market-leading customer service to all stakeholders.
Tom is a Chartered Manager with the Chartered Institute of Management and a Companion Member of the Institute of Customer Service.
Jon joined Chartway Group in November 2018 having previously worked for Berkeley and Bellway.
With over 30 years’ experience, Jon brings a multitude of skills to the business. Jon is a team player and a dedicated and professional design manager.
Alex Joined Chartway Group in June 2017. Previously working for a number of major PLC house builders: Persimmon Homes, Taylor Wimpey & Laing Homes, he joined Chartway Construction from Bellway Homes
Starting as a trainee back in 2004 Alex has gained first- hand experience in a number of roles, including Surveying, up to his current role as Head of Commercial.
Alex heads up the Commercial Team and is responsible for the appointment and management of all sub-contractors and their budgets, and construction budget reporting for all Chartway Construction & Westerhill developments.
Mark joined Chartway Group in 2015 as a senior land manager. He is responsible for working across the Chartway Group portfolio, sourcing land development opportunities in Kent and the South East, in particular, for Westerhill Homes, the residential private sales brand of Chartway Group.
Mark has a demonstrable history of buying sites, with over 30 years’ experience in the housing development industry. As Senior Land Manager for Chartway Group, he cultivates productive relationships with land agents, property developers and land owners to ensure he is at the forefront of development prospects.
Previous to joining the Chartway Group, Mark worked for a range of house builders including Barratt Homes, Antler Homes and Westbury Homes. He started his career in the sales department of Galliford Homes, before moving on to work in land acquisition. This was followed by a spell working for Kent land agent RPC Land & New Homes where he was responsible for selling sites for residential development in Kent and South-East London.
