Our team visit St Augustine Academy, Maidstone, to take part in their careers fair.

Encouraging young men and women into an exciting and rewarding career in the construction industry, is something which the team at award-winning Maidstone-based Chartway Group are passionate about. And, we were delighted to be invited by St Augustine Academy, Maidstone, to take part in their careers evening on Thursday 13th October.

The careers fair was open to all students, and representatives from different sectors were on hand to give advice and guidance.

About two hundred people attended the event, and students were able to speak to Chartway Group’s Contracts Manager on aspects of a career in trades such as plumbing, bricklaying and carpentry, and working out on the construction sites. Information about apprenticeships was available from Chartway Group’s Training & Development Coordinator, and their Marketing & Corporate Social Responsibility Manager spoke to students about the wide variety of roles available across the industry.

Mary-Anne Staddon, Marketing and CSR Manager at Chartway Group said ‘We were delighted to take part in the careers event and meet students who could be working in the construction industry in the next few years! There are hundreds of careers which can suit a wide range of talents and interests, it is about matching the person to the role, and as it’s such a diverse sector the possibilities are endless.
We are very keen to promote an ethos that all roles are open to everyone which we demonstrate extremely well at Chartway Group, with women steelworkers, decorators and Site Managers, and Apprentices on many of our sites and in the offices.

It was pleasure meeting the St Augustine Academy students, and we hope they found what we had to say was helpful, as they make their career choices.’
