Art programme continues at Conningbrook Lakes

Working in partnership with Latimer Developments and Ashford Borough Council, we commissioned the project to help create a distinctive place to live and to celebrate the area’s natural landscape. A Public Art Strategy was produced by local public art consultancy FrancisKnight, who worked closely with the community to develop ideas and shape the themes of the artworks.

Dwell, Explore and Interact – each theme reflects a different way to interact with nature and the landscape, with artists Julia Clarke, Tim Norris and Outdoor Studios commissioned to deliver the programme.

Earlier this year, The Loop by Julia Clarke became the first artwork to be installed on site. Part of the Explore theme, the large, handmade willow sculpture is located at the water’s edge at the entrance to the village lakeside.

Exploring the Interact theme, a series of community workshops will take place this summer, led by Outdoor Studios.

A second artwork by Julia Clarke, ‘The Birds’ is also part of the Explore theme and will be located close to the start of Conningbrook Avenue at the main lake. A third artwork, by Tim Norris, will follow and will be inspired by the Dwell theme.
