Chartway Group proud sponsors of WISH SE International Women’s Day event

Chartway Group were proud to be one of the sponsors of the WISH (Women in Social Housing SE), International Women’s Day Event held at Maidstone Innovation Centre last week.

Guest speakers spoke on topics of interest to an audience of over 60 delegates from construction, housing, councils, and other areas from the housing sector.

Polly Waterworth COO of We Rise, an award-winning Brixton based community business, empowering young people to create successful futures through high quality work experience projects and mentoring programmes, spoke on ‘empowering the next generation’.

Gill Butler Chief Officer Housing Folkestone & Hythe Council who has a 20-year track record of working in the Social Housing sector discussed ‘career positives taken from the pandemic.’

Carrie McKenzie Executive Director of People, Communications and Organisational Change at Moat Housing spoke about ‘business resilience through to the other side’.

The event was organised by Naureen Ullah of LCH and the WISH SE team. Naureen said ‘ We need communities like WISH even more so now than ever to collaborate with our fellow women to empower each other. So proud to see so many members and guests attend the event yesterday, it is a really fun way of networking and I could see many smiles and conversations being had and also hearing from our inspiring speakers on the day. Some amazing discussions around housing providers and contractors of how we inspire the next generation into sector.’ Newly appointed Chair of WISH SE Lauren Chivers, also attended the event.

Mary-Anne Staddon Marketing & CSR Manager at Chartway Group said ‘ We were delighted to sponsor this event. It was inspiring to listen to such strong female speakers, especially as the event also falls in ‘Women in Construction Week’ which we are supporting with a number of activities with some of our female workforce. I’m sure I can speak on behalf of a lot of the delegates in saying that it was both empowering and energising to get together with such a strong group of female advocates.’
