Forge Wood

The Forge Wood housing scheme, part of the wider Forge Wood development in Crawley, is the first housing project to be constructed in the county by Chartway, since the company opened its Sussex regional office earlier this year.

The new project comprises the construction of a contemporary block of 43 residential apartments and ground-floor commercial units. Due for completion December 2024, this development is undertaken in collaboration with industry leaders Taylor Wimpey and Persimmon Homes for Crawley Borough Council.

Situated in the north-east of Crawley, Forge Wood is the newest addition to the town’s landscape, representing one of the 14 neighbourhoods. Upon completion, Forge Wood will boast up to 1,900 new homes, all centred around a communal hub. The central space features new community amenities, including a primary school, community centre and commercial / office units, fostering a vibrant and interconnected living environment. As well as new homes, the project Chartway is developing will bring forward new retail spaces to the community hub.

Commenting on the project, Gavin Hunt, Group Operations Director, at Chartway “We are thrilled to start on site on this exciting new project in Crawley, marking the beginning of our presence in the county.”

“The Forge Wood housing development is not just about constructing homes; it’s about creating a thriving neighbourhood with a comprehensive range of amenities for residents to enjoy. As Chartway ventures into West Sussex, this project represents a commitment to community-building and the creation of spaces that enhance the quality of life for all residents.”
